DNI Releases Updated Budget Figure for FY 2017 Appropriations Requested for the National Intelligence Program

Consistent with Section 601 of the Implementing the Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, as amended (50 U.S.C. 3306), the Director of National Intelligence disclosed to the public on February 9, 2016, the aggregate amount of appropriations requested for Fiscal Year 2017. The $53.5 billion is now updated to include additional funding above the initial President’s Budget Request for the National Intelligence Program (NIP).

The updated aggregate amount of FY 2017 appropriations requested for the NIP is $54.9 billion.

Any and all subsidiary information concerning the NIP budget, whether the information concerns particular intelligence agencies or particular intelligence programs, will not be disclosed. Beyond the disclosure of the NIP top-line figure, there will be no other disclosures of currently classified NIP budget information because such disclosures could harm national security. The only exceptions to the foregoing are for unclassified appropriations, primarily for the Intelligence Community Management Account.
