WASHINGTON, D.C. — Director of National Intelligence Avril D. Haines today issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Intelligence Community (IC), I want to congratulate Lieutenant General Timothy D. Haugh, U.S. Air Force, on his confirmation as the Commander of U.S. Cyber Command, Director of the National Security Agency (NSA), and Chief of the Central Security Service. Lt. Gen. Haugh brings to this position extraordinary knowledge and experience, having served in a variety of leadership positions focused on intelligence and cyber, including as the Deputy Commander of U.S. Cyber Command. He also has a tremendous reputation as a man of integrity and a manager who cares about his workforce. I am grateful to him for taking on this critically important leadership role in our Intelligence Community and very much look forward to working with him in his new position.

“At the same time, I want to express my gratitude to General Paul Nakasone for his unparalleled contribution to not only the NSA enterprise, but also to our broader community, and our national security. General Nakasone is among the most extraordinary leaders I have had the great privilege to work with over the years and to learn from. His integrity, intellect, and kindness are legendary and an inspiration to many. General Nakasone’s legacy will live on in the institutions he enriched through his lifetime of service. I wish him the very best.”
